weber et broutin was founded in France in the early 20th century.
George Weber and Jean-Baptiste Broutin made gypsum- and lime-based façade renders in their factories, just 500 meters one from the other in the east of Paris. Most of their production was exported to the USA.
In 1927, Edgar de Vigan took over and merged the two companies to create weber et broutin réunis
As from 1946, the company expanded into the reconstruction market. It became part of the Poliet group in 1970, and gradually developed to serve its customers throughout France in the facade render, tile adhesive and technical mortar segments.
In 1982 weber et broutin turned its attention to European markets. Companies with similar or complementary activities were required, beginning with cemarksa in Spain and followed by betraci in Belgium (1984).
The company continued its expansion throughout the 1980s and the 90s. A key event toook place in 1996 when weber et broutin joined the Saint-Gobain group.
The company became Saint-Gobain Weber. The Weber Building Solutions brand embraces the different companies that operate under its banner.
Weber Building Solutions is now active in 18 European countries and draws on a network of 57 production sites.
Weber Building Solutions also took a new dimension outside Europe, beginning with South America.
In 1998 it entered the Brazilian and Argentinian markets when it took over Quartzolit and Concreto.
Asia is Weber Building Solutions' second development zone outside Europe, with activities in Thailand, Hong Kong and Shangai.
To organize this international development and support the different
countries, Weber Building Solutions disposes of two structures apart from
the headquarters: one in Vienna, in charge of Central and Eastern Europe,
and one in Bangkok for Asia.
